The word Pawnee is used as a noun and you can use the word to refer to a member of a tribe which is a native of America and now most of the population of the tribe lives in the US state of Oklahoma. The word can also be used for the language that those people speak. The plural for the word can be Pawnees and sometimes Pawnee itself can be used as plural.

Historically the tribe lived along the rivers Plate, Loup and Republican and the area you can locate these days is in the US state of Nebraska. Pawnees played a great role in limiting the expansion of the Spanish rule when the allied themselves with the French and defeated the Spanish in a battle in the year 1720.
