The origin of the word Hutchinson is very difficult to determine as the word is usually used as a surname and sometimes these surnames evolve themselves to convey something different from what they are originated.

Though it is difficult to affirm, some theories say that a names with 'son' prefixed in them convey that they are someone's son and in this case it is Hutchin's son. So probably there might be a family that is known as Hutchin and from there the name originated.

Where ever the origin of the name but one thing is sure that the surname has many great people to its credit and some of them are Alain Hutchinson, Asa Hutchinson and many others.

There are some places also with this name and most of the places are located in the United States of America.
