Jovial means "light hearted" or "fun-loving." A person characterised by a jovial nature is enthusiastic and full of beans. His buoyant nature can be quite infectious and inspiring to people. For a jovial person, things, emotions and people are to be taken in a lighter vein. A jovial person can either be naturally in a joyous mood or he can fake the feeling to show that he is party to a mirthful environment.

At times a jovial mood can also go too far and make people uninhibited, flirtatious and carefree which may not be advisable in a professional setup. Nevertheless being jovial is look upon vastly as a pleasant attribute to have because it is uplifting and results in a tension-free ambience.

JOVIAL is also an acronym for Jules' Own Version of the International Algebraic Language. It is an ALGOL-like programming language made by Systems Development Corp and used primarily to write software for the electronics involved in military aircrafts. The program was developed in the early years of 1960s by Jules Schwartz.

Jovial means cheerful in a bluff, hearty way.  The jovial person doesn't show `tenderness' as such, but is tender.  He tends to laugh things like tender feelings off and deals with them by being smilingly gruff and sincere.
