Deterrence is an act or process of discouraging a certain action by instilling fear, doubt, and anxiety or by creating confusions, especially in a war or a war zone. To deter someone means to de-motivate someone to do something by instilling fear. It also refers to an action performed against a certain action that has been already performed and is highly needed to be stopped. Simply said, it is a counter action to an action that has been performed. The purpose of deterrence is to prevent unwanted, unusual or hostile actions. It is a type of a hindrance.
