Exogenous, derived from the Greek words "exo" and "gen" means a thing or a process which is comes from outside or has an external influence. In Biology, it means something which originates on the outside. Exogenous factors are materials that are present in the body of a living organism but which had originated outside the body. Therapeutic medicines, injections carcinogens and pathogens are examples of exogenous substances.
In economics, a change that transpires on the outside of the economic model and cannot be explained by the standard economy model is called exogenous. In geology factors like erosion, weathering, sedimentary process etc are example of exogenous factors. In botany, exogenous factors relate to accumulation of deposit of woody tissue on the plant.
