The word 'dura' can be used principally to describe two different things; one is a language and another one is a short form of an organ found in brain.

When you are using the word in the context of language you are talking about a language that was prevalent in the country on Nepal and an endangered one even in that country. Recently there have been some projects going on to rehabilitate the language to its rightful position.

When you are using the word 'dura' in the context of an organ it is a short form of dura mater, an organ found in brain. And the word has its origin in Latin where it means tough mother. As the name suggests it is a tough and inflexible layer of the meninges which surrounds the brain and spinal chord.
