Bugger is term that is used in the dialect British English, South African English, Australian English, New Zealand English and Sri Lankan English. The original meaning is sodomy. The word bugger is used affectionately as well as a negative term. In Welsh English language it is used when one is really fond of something. It also implies for some kind of dissatisfaction or even if ones behaviour is displeasing. In Untied Kingdom the word burger, refers to as an expression of surprise. In United States it is not recognised and is considered very inoffensive.

Some of the well known phrases are bugger off, which means run away or go away. The other well known phrase is 'I got bugger all for it', which means "nothing".
