Anansi is said to be one of the most importance African folklore gods. He is supposed to be a trickster as well as a cultural hero. It is believed that Anasi is responsible for stopping fires as well as blessing the people with rain. This, it is said he does for his father, Nyame, who is the sky god. Anansi's mother is called Asase you. According to certain beliefs he has a wife who is called Miss Anansi or Mistress Anansi but mostly called Aso. He is one of the gods that doesn't take one particular form but is represented in various ways such as a human or a spider and so on. This legend of the Anansi is said to have originated among the Ashanti tribe.
