Nova Scotia is the name of a province in Canada. It is member of the Maritime Provinces. It consists of the Nova Scotia peninsula, the island of Cape Breton, and a couple of small neighbouring isles. This province has the Northumberland Strait and the Atlantic Ocean as its boundaries.

The capital of this province is called Halifax. The earliest visitors to this place were the Vikings in around 1000 AD. It was first settled by Micmac Indians who lost it to John Cabot for Britain in the year 1497. Many loyalists migrated to this province after the American Revolution. It officially became a member of the Dominion of Canada in the year 1867.

The main economic and commercial activities in this province include fishery, shipbuilding and shipping across the Atlantic Ocean.
