Placid refers to something that is not disturbed by any kind of uproar or disarray in the surrounding environment. It is the state of being calm or tranquil in the midst of disorder. It is used to refer to someone who is complacent with his surroundings; he is not affected by any kind of chaos or disruption. A placid person is one who does not get easily agitated by any kind of emotional upheavals. It refers to something that is motionless or not disturbed. A placid person is generally even tempered and unruffled by any kind of tumult.

Simply put, placid means someone who is free from disturbance of any kind. A placid person does not get irritated or annoyed very easily. He or she tends to take life easy, tends to be easygoing.
