What Does Pane Mean?
Pane basically is one of the divisions of a window or the like, comprising of a single plate of glass in a frame. A window usually is an opening in a solid or else opaque façade through which light and at times, air can pass.
A window is generally made up of glass or strong transparent plastic. The term Window comes from the Old Norse vindrauga. Till date Vindrauga is applied in the Icelandic to mean the same thing that it used to mean, window. It was initially recorded in the 13th century, and formerly referred to an unglazed opening in a roof.
Window went on to replace the Old English term eagpyrl, which plainly means 'eye-hole'. Nearly all the Germanic languages however accepted the Latin term fenestra to express a window with glass.
