The word invincible is an adjective that conveys the idea of something that is so strong that it is not possible for anybody to defeat it. The word can be used in various contexts and whether it is a sports team, an army or a person you can use the word freely if they fall under the category of being undefeatable. Sometimes you can find its use for stubbornness also and there the word is usually used in association with belief; an invincible belief of someone in his ability makes him listen to nobody and makes him go forward with what he believes is right.

The following sentence can make the meaning clear in context: The Australian cricket team seems to be invincible. This sentence actually says that it is highly unlikely that anybody can defeat the Australian cricket team.
