Heroic refers to the deeds or courageous acts or anything that is of or pertaining to heroes, in literature, legendary stories or even mythical characters.

To be heroic is to have or to exhibit the qualities suitable to a hero. These qualities generally include courageousness, bravery, fearlessness etc.

A hero is often one who possesses or displays courage, is audacious and bold, as well as gallant and gutsy.

Heroic as an adverb may also be used to describe an activity or deed that is of high magnitude or scale, that is impressive in its scope and which is extraordinary in nature.

Heroic is also a word that is used to describe a branch of literature, especially poetry. A heroic display is that which is of colossal magnitude, that which is a gargantuan feat. For example, "He performed a heroic feat by rescuing the child from the burning building".
