Hero is a Greek word. In terms of mythology and folklore, it (hero or heroine) means one who generally accomplishes the classification of what is well thought-out good and dignified or noble in the instigating customs or culture. Heroes rest the eagerness to surrender the self for the superior good as the most important defining trait or characteristics of a hero.

On the other hand, in literature, predominantly in catastrophe or disaster, the idol may also have severe flaws which lead to a collapse, e.g. Hamlet. Such heroes are seldom called tragic heroes. Some communal critics or commentators lay down the requirement for heroes in the periods of social disorder or disarray or nationwide self-doubt, considering a requirement for honourable role models, especially for the young. Current fashion may perplex heroes and hero-worships with the faction of sheer superstar.
