The word hectic is a descriptive word for a situation.  One that is a little out of hand, too busy, too noisy, disorganized, disruptive, hard to deal with.

Hectic is characterized by strong movement, confusion, or haste. Like Erik Erikson once stated "There was nothing feverish or hectic about his vigour". This word is derived from the Middle English word 'etik', which means recurring or consumptive. The synonyms of hectic are frantic, frenzied, excited, confused, chaotic, and wild.

On the other hand Hectic is the name of a very famous band by the Ska/Punk band Operation Ivy. This band is also very well known for combining Hardcore, and Ska, which does not comprise of the horn section. It is most well known for the first ska punk album. Some of the track listings are "Junkie's Runnin' Dry", "Here We Go Again", "Hoboken", "Yellin in my Ear"," Sleep Long" and "Healthy Body".
