Percussive means relating to or even characterised by percussion. It also refers to something known as percussion instrument. These instruments generally give away sound by being struck with an implement, shaken, rubbed, scraped, or by any other action, which in turn lets the object into vibration. It is an object that is usually in a rhythmic context or even in a musical aim.

The word percussive is derived from the Latin word "percussion," which means "to beat, strike" in the musical sense and "percussus", which means "a beating." this term also applies very well in the field of medicine and weaponry and is known as percussion cap. This term in early time was referred to a relation of instruments which comprises of drums, rattles, metal plates, or wooden blocks which musicians would beat or strike to produce sound.
