Ditto means to repeat something. It can be a statement or an action. It therefore means to agree or the same. It is a way of saying "me too". It originated from an Italian word i.e. Ditto. It is symbolized by the use of two apostrophes ( " ). If something needs to be repeated then it is indicated by the use of a ditto mark.    It seems like slang language and term that is handy and quite insignificant but it is a very ancient word and has been there since the Romans. It comes from dictus which means "having been said". The word ditto was used for the first time in English in the year 1625. Ditto also conveys the meaning of a duplicate or a copy. This meaning was first used in 1818 and is an English development. Today it is a trademark for a duplicating machine.
