The word 'symphonic' is used as an adjective for the word symphony and the word is used for a long complicated piece of music that is played in a large orchestra and the music is played in three main parts. The parts in this context are called 'Movements'. This word is one of the most often used when somebody is talking about music and you will come across the word in the sentences like 'Mozart's symphonic works' or 'Beethoven's Fifth Symphony'.

The word is composed of two different terms 'sym' and 'phony' and these two play the role of prefix and suffix to many words. You can find the use of 'sym' in the words symmetrical and symbiotic and 'phony' is used in the word 'telephone' and with many other musical instruments.
