The word landlocked is used for an area of land that has no sea-boundary and the word is usually used for a country that has no harbour of its own.

There are numerous examples of this kind of countries in this world and Nepal is one of the prime examples of this kind of country. The country is bounded by some other country from every side and has to depend upon them its neighbours for the goods that are need to be imported from the countries of other continents.

Being landlocked is considered as a hindrance in the development of a nation and you can find that most of the landlocked countries are not as developed as their neighbours who have access to sea-coast of their own.

It means there are no bodies of water that can be used at a way to leave the area. It's like the state of Kansas. It has no oceans or rivers leading to an ocean.
