Terra Haute is a city located in Virgo country in Indiana. It is positioned near the states western boundaries along with Illinois. The city is incorporated in the Terre Haute IN Metropolitan Statistical area. The city had a total population of 59,614 as per the 2000 census. It also serves as the country seat of the Vigo Country GR6. The state is commonly known as the Crossroads of America. The reason behind it being called with this name is that it is situated at the point of intersection of the National Road and the U.S 41, the two major roadways. The main dominating factor of the country's physical geography is the river Wabash.
