Lolium Temulentum is commonly known as Cockle or Darnel. This plant is grows annually, it forms the part of the Poaceae family. It comes under the Lolium genus. The stem of the darnel plant can grow up to at least 1 meter tall. The darnel plant grows in the same production area as wheat; some times it is also mistaken as Weed. The similarity between wheat and darnel is extensive that in some areas the darnel is often referred to as "False Wheat". The plant also gives its name to another edible grain called aquatic cockle better known as "False Rice"
