The term Corinthian is simply an adjective which signifies something that belongs to Corinth in Greece. Anything that is pertaining to or is a characteristic of Corinth can be called Corinthian. The inhabitants of Corinth are Corinthians and also a kind of vase painting that was developed in Corinth.

The term is also used for a form of architecture that was invented in the country of Greece and is characterised by a column which is slender and fluted and also an ornate capital which is decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves.

Though the term is originally meant to convey the abovementioned meanings, with the passage of time it has imbued in itself various other meanings also. The term conveys the person who lives the life of luxury and licentiousness.
