The meaning of the word aversive is; a tendency to dissuade or resist. When one avoids using a certain thing, confronting a certain situation or dissuades from exhibiting certain behaviour by displaying an unpleasant or contradictory stimulus, the behaviour which comes to the fore, is called as aversive behaviour.
For example, if you do not like doing a certain activity, then you will develop an aversive behaviour towards it. You may withdraw yourself from participating in that activity by making an excuse or you may find reasons to justify not doing it. In psychology, there is a type of classical conditioning called "taste aversive conditioning" wherein animals avoid certain kinds of food because in the past they had a bad experience after consumption.
