Armada refers to the force. The Spanish Armada was the Spanish fleet that had sailed against England commanded by Duke of Medina Sedonia in the year 1588. The armada was send by the king of Spain namely Phillip II. He was a Catholic King. His intention of escorting the Spanish Army was for landing in the South-East England. His basic aim was to suppress the English support for the rebels of the Dutch in the Spanish Netherlands. He wanted to cut-off the attacks against both the possessions of Spain in the Atlantic treasure fleet and the New World fleets. The armada was scattered and was blown away to the North-Eastern coast of England.
