Salem is the capital of a state named as Oregon in the United States. Salem is also the country seat of a country namely Marion country. It has also been called the cherry city. The district of West Salem lies in the Polk Country. It lies in between the two Portland and Eugene in the mid-Willamette Valley. According to the census conducted, it had the population of 160,250 on the July 1st, 2006. It had a metro area population of approximately 400,000. It was considered as the second largest city and also the second largest metropolitan area in the state of Oregon.
