Pablo is the Spanish version for the name 'Paul', derived from 'Paulus'. Pablo is also the name of a character in the comic book series "The Adventures of Tintin'. This character first made an appearance in 'The Broken Ear', in which he was a hitman who was attempting to kill Tintin but ended up saving him from a firing squad. Later in another volume, Tintin set Pablo free out of gratitude for saving his life.

The most famous person bearing the name Pablo is surely Pablo Picasso, the most celebrated artist of the twentieth century. He exhibited artistic talent at a very early age, and by the time he started studying art seriously he was already an accomplished painter. He became part of a pulsating artistic society, of which even Gertrude Stein was a member. He was certainly inspired by other artists, but his work was highly original and creative.
