Prehistoric is a combination of two words- pre and historic. It has its origin in Greek and Latin. The Latin word prae means pre and the Greek word ἱστορία means history. It relates to the period that is older than the historic. Historic period has written records. Prehistoric is as also written as pre-historical. This term 'prehistorique' was coined by Paul Tournal. It was later, modified by French in 1830s. Daniel Wilson introduce this term into English language in 1851.
