What Does The Word Predicate Mean?

One of the two main parts of a sentence. The other is the subject. So, if it's not the subject, it's the predicate.  

I ate some cheese

The other is the subject

This is a test

Predicate means its always after a subject.
It always has to be after the subject or it wont make any sense.
For example kicked soccerball lucky wont make sense. So it should be lucky kicked a soccerball.
A predicate always has to be after the subject no matter what.
