A panhandle basically is a casual geographic expression for a stretched out tail-like projection of a geo-political unit, like a sub national entity or a sovereign state. The expression is derived from the analogous portion of a cooking pan and its application is usually restricted to the United States.
A panhandle is alike to a peninsula in outline, but dissimilar to a peninsula it is not bounded by water on all three parts or linked to a geographical mainland. Where as a panhandle is enclosed by a ground margin on at least one section and stretches out from the bigger geographical body of the organisational division.
