The word lustre is used as noun and also as a verb. Lustre is a mainly a British spelling for 'luster'. The noun lustre means luster. The quality of being lustrous or sparkling or glossy is called lustre. Lustre of a substance is its polish or coating that is shiny or bright.

And the verb lustre could be used as lustred and lustring which are its past tense and continuous tense respectively. This verb could be used with object or without an object. As a verb, lustre means 'to become lustrous', when it is used without an object. Lustre could also mean 'to finish something by applying a gloss'. Here, it is used with an object. For example: he lustred the dull metal vase.
