The term geocentric is an adjective meaning measured from, with respect to or pertaining to the earth's centre. It is thus also used to mean having the earth as a central point or centre. It has also been utilized to mean to base on or to take the earth as the core or centre of perspective and valuation.
In astronomy, for example, there is the 'geocentric model of the universe' which is the theory which holds that the Earth is actually at the centre point of the universe; with the Sun and other bodies going around it. This model was a common belief in ancient Greece. In fact it was accepted by Aristotle as well as Ptolemy.
