Ta refers to a solid grey lustrous metallic element Tantalum. It is highly corrosion resistant and is known to occur in niobite, tantalite and fergusonite. Tantalum is used to manufacture electric bulb filaments, parts of nuclear reactor, electrolytic capacitors, and certain surgical instruments. The element has an atomic number of 73 and an atomic weight of 180.948. The word "Ta" is believed to have entered popular English literature for the first time in beginning of the 11th century.

Ta is also the sixteenth letter of the Arabic alphabet. Ta also refers to "thank you" in British usage, as an informal or "baby-talking way" of saying "thanks you." Rice-paddy is known as "ta" in Japanese. Ta is also the code for Tamil, a Dravidian language spoken by more than 64 million around the world, especially in India and Sri-Lanka.
