The word quintuple basically indicates something that is constituted of five divisions or members. It also refers to something that is five times as much in any aspect, be it size or quantity. It is the part of the series of terms that are used to denote a similar meaning, that is, double, triple, quadruple and quintuple. Hence, it basically refers to a number or quantity that is fivefold; it is multiplied by the number five.

Something called as the Quintuple Alliance was born when France joined the Quadruple Alliance made by Russia, Austria, Prussia and UK to support the European peace agreement that was completed at the Congress of Vienna in the year 1815.

In chemistry terminology, a quintuple bond is a strange kind of chemical bond which was initially noticed in the year 2005.
