In the 1100's the town had been taken by the Tjekker and was ruled in any case as late as the 1000's BCE. It appears to have been controlled by the land of the tribe of Asher, however fixed to Manasseh. It has been positioned in the ninth mile from Caesarea, on the way to Ptolmais. When the Greeks came to the city, and learned in relation to the name DOR, they approved the name Dora.
