Gobi is a word of the Mongolian language and it conveys the meaning of something that is very large and dry and it is this very meaning that is supposed to be the reason behind the name of the desert Gobi in Mongolia and China.
Gobi desert is situated in the parts of China and the southern part of Mongolia and is the largest in the continent of Asia. You can measure it about one thousand six hundred kilometres from the southwest to northeast and about eight hundred kilometres from north to south. The desert is bounded by the Altay Mountain, by the Tibetan Plateau and the North China Plain and consists of various geographical and ecological regions with each one of them have their own climate and topography.
