It is music aficionados who use the term 'dur' quite often as it is a German term that is used for a vigorous kind of music. The English term for the word is major and it is used as an adjective to describe a scale, key, chord and also interval.

in Sweden Dur means "always" which is akin to the Celtic meaning

Dur also refers to a "period of time" as in "during"
