Aye means an affirmative vote or a "yes." The word is used rarely nowadays except for some parts of the world, due to more agreeable replacements for the word "aye." The synonyms for aye are yes, positive, and other slangs like "yeah", "right on," "yep" etc. Aye is used an interjection or an exclamatory word almost every time in English language.

Aye is commonly used to mean "yes" in the north parts of Britain, and especially in Scotland. In the novel Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh and the movie Braveheart, one can see the abundant usage of the word "aye. The word is also used in Glasgow as a variant of the word "yes."
