IBRD is the abbreviation for International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This is a United Nations agency, which was created to aid developing nations through loans guaranteed by the member governments. The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development is an international organization that is dedicated to the provision of finance, advice and research to developing nations, in an effort to support their economic advancement. The World Bank was created early during the post World War II era to address the needs of the many European and Asian nations in need of financial aid to fund their reconstruction efforts. It's creation can be traced to the Bretton Woods agreement of 1944. The Bank was a big success in the provision of financial assistance for these devastated countries. Today, the Bank's main aim is to fight poverty by providing developmental assistance to middle and poor-income countries.
