In Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs), players tend to develop characters in a graduated way - that is, they progress through a sequence of levels, with their characters gaining access to more money, greater abilities, and more powerful items and character enhancements as they reach those higher levels.

Players who have high level characters also sometimes create other low level characters too, and use the money and resources of the established high level character to subsidise and generally smooth the path for the low-level one. These low level characters are called twinks and they will often have far more expensive items and enhancements than is typical for a character of their level.

A Twink is also a homosexual slang term which is used in reference to either a young or possibly attractive or young-looking male homosexual. Twink is also the name of a imaginary character that features in Paper Mario, a popular Nintendo 64 game. Twinking is a term in a role-playing game.
