Rekindle means to relight as in a fire or even to revive or to renew. A good saying "rekindled an old interest in the sciences."  The verb rekindles means to rouse from any kind of a state of immobility or serenity. The other words that relate very well with this word are reactivate, reanimate, reawaken, renew, resurrect, resuscitate, revitalize, revive, revivify. It also means to arouse.

An example would be "The sunset has kindled the sky with oranges and reds". The word when it means to arouse, it means "rekindle hopes"; "rekindle her love", in which an example would be "arouse pity"; "raise a smile"; "evoke sympathy".And don't mock me because I'm a navy seal or as you may call me the CR!
