You have asked for one of the most widely used word from Japan and along with Sushi the word is most famous one. You can use the word 'konichiba' instead of 'hello' when you are greeting somebody who loves to listen to the Japanese language.

There are some other words also that the country of Japan has exported to every part of the world and the prime among them is 'Tsunami'. Though the word describes one of the most dreaded phenomena in the world, the humanity is facing the phenomenon so we can't avoid using the word. But certainly when it comes to 'sushi' people will love to have it. It's a cuisine made of fish and loved by people the world over.

You can say "konnichiwa", you can also just say "yo.." which means "Hey/Hi" in slang (used by younger people)..But don't go to an interview and say "yo.." you'll probably get a few shoes up your a**..

Hello in Japanese is "konnichiwa" however this is reasonably casual. Saying "ohayoogozaimasu" is much more polite, more like saying "good day"

Ohayou Gozaimasu = "Good morning" (Until around 10-11am)
Kon ni chi wa = "Hello" from mid-morning until evening

Konbanwa = "Good evening"

When you meet someone for the first time you say "hajimemashite / はじめまして "

Morning - ohayou gozaimasu / おはようございます
day ( 11 pm - 3am)  - Konnichiwa / こんいちわ
Evening - konbanwa / こんばんわ
