Just because they are tenured should not mean that they can do whatever they like without consequence. If they do something bad, they can still be fired, but it has to be a violation of their contract.

Tenure refers to a time span. It refers to the time span in a particular job. It may follow that a senior official cannot fire any employee without the term specified in the contract. In terms of the tenure systems adopted by the colleges, universities and the schools, the internal system of tenure is associated with the senior teachers or professors. No junior teacher is promoted ever to a higher position without a very strong record of his/her teachings, researches and the services given in terms of administration. The academic tenures are planned with the main purpose of guaranteeing the freedom academically. It has the main aim of protecting the reputed researchers and teachers in the conditions when they are opposed from the prevailing opinions.
