The word "Tallulah" is the name used by the Choctaw people, who are a group belonging to the First Nation and are geographically located in the south-eastern part of North America. The word means "leaping water". The Choctaw people were remarkable for two things, their ability and eagerness to adapt western, eastern to them, technology and secondly their generosity during the period known as the Irish Potato famine.

The word Tallulah is also widely used in the American state of Georgia as a name for a place. There is Tallulah in Louisiana, The Tallulah River in the state of Georgia and the Tallulah Gorge in the same state. There is also a State Park in Georgia connected to the Tallulah Gorge. There is a town called Tallulah falls and a water fall that bears the name as well.
