Blanch is a cooking term referring to vegetables where you submerge the vegetables briefly in boiling water. This is done to preserve the texture, color and flavor. To blanch a vegetable you boil it briefly then chill it in ice water. To prepare to eat you reheat the blanched vegetable slowly. I have used the term blanch in my sentences above.
