Solus means to be by oneself or stand alone. It is frequently used as a stage direction from a director to a male actor. In newspapers however solus means an advertisement that shares a page with nothing else except an editorial or may have a commercial break all to itself.
Solus is also the name of a comic which was published by CrossGen Entertainment between April and December 2003. Eight books in the series were published before CrossGen Entertainment went bankrupt. The main character in these comics was Solusandra. In addition to being the creator of the Sigil Bearers she was an Atlantean who created the First who were demi-gods endowed with great power.
