Suppressed is the past-participle of "to suppress." The word means "restrained or concealed." An act of controlling one's emotions and exercising restraint with regards to expressing oneself is known as being suppressed.

Some of the synonyms of the word "suppressed" are quelled, crushed, concealed, squashed, stifled, repressed etc. Something which is prohibited or curbed from being shown, exhibited or being heard is known as "suppressed." Here is a sentence with the word "suppress":

"The singer who came second in the singing competition suppressed her disappointment and congratulated the winner."

"Suppressed" is believed to have entered popular English literature for the first time in the later half of the 16th century.
