Refugee is a person who is in search of a refuge in a country other than his own birth land. This is done in order to get away from persecution, war, terrorism, extreme poverty, famines, and natural disaster.

The United Nations Convention defines refugee as "owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country." The major starting place countries of refugees are Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar, and Sudan. 'Asylum Seekers' is another term by which a refugee can be addressed.

Hi! I am now a refugee. I left my own country because I'm oppressed. It kept me from living. Now I have found a way out of this situation. It says here https://pasaportecolombiano.wordpress.com/asilo-politico/ how to get a green card, political asylum or citizenship in the United States. I want to get American citizenship and start living a legal life. What do you say to that?
