Mesozoic is the name of a geological era. This geologic era signifies the time of "Middle" life. It refers to the period from the end of the Paleozoic to the beginning of the Cenozoic. This period was the geological era from 245 to 65 million years ago. This era also included the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. It is also known as the age of reptiles. This time was marked by the cycads, evergreen trees, dinosaurs, marine and flying reptiles, and ganoid fishes.

The Mesozoic is one of three geologic eras of Phanerozoic eon. Mesozoic is a term derived from the Greek term that meant animal or living being. The division of these ages dates back to the Giovanni Arduino in the 18th century. He named these eras as primary, secondary that referred to the Mesozoic era and the modern era was named as tertiary era by him. It was a time of tectonic, climatic and evolutionary changes. The modern life started by the end of this era.
