The term commemoration means a service or celebration held in the memory of some person. Commemoration basically is a kind of religious observance held in the Church of England.

They are one of the least significant types of observance, some other ones being Principal Feasts, Principal Holy Days, Festivals and Lesser Festivals. While key feast should be celebrated, thought it is not compulsory to observe Commemoration. They are often attached to a calendar date, and are not held if they come on a Sunday, in Holy Week or in Easter Week.

In Common Worship Commemoration are not offered with collects or suggestion of liturgical colour. Though they may be celebrated as smaller festivals if local pastoral circumstances propose it. Some common examples of Commemoration in the Church of England are 20th January Richard Rolle of Hampole, 10th February, Scholastic, sister of Benedict, etc.
