Epiphytic in addition to epiphytical is the adjective form of the noun epiphyte. In botanical terms it means of or relating to, or possessing the nature of epiphytes.

An epiphyte is a plant which has a tendency to grow on other plant and it depends on these other plants for mechanical support not nutrients. It is also known as an aerophyte, air plant. Examples of the same include the tropical orchid, a staghorn fern as well as other mosses and lichens.

It is interesting to note that epiphytes can be seen in all major classifications of the plant kingdom. While throngs of the large varieties of epiphytes are found in abundance especially in moist tropical forests, you will find that mosses and lichens crop up as epiphytes in nearly any given environment which has trees. The adverb form of the word epiphytic is the term epiphytically.
